I am still waiting for the day my parents will go: ‘Surprise! This was only a test. We are actually wealthy. Here is a billion dollars.’

As part of that fantasy, I will immediately go and buy a game farm and build a safari lodge, filled with colonial styled pieces of furniture, take in an orphaned monkey, and invite Meryl Streep and Robert Redford over for Pimms.

These are the images that came to mind:

So today I indulged that fantasy by visiting the beautifully curated store, Hunter Gatherer, in Parkhurst, Johannesburg.  Filled with colonial styled antiques, the owner Ashley has used her 20 plus years of experience in the decor industry, to source the best the UK has to offer.  As correctly noted by her, you do not have to ‘theme’ your whole space to look like a scene out of a movie (or my fantasy for that matter), but can easily be combined with existing pieces to form a classic look that will never date.

Situated at 22 8th Street Parkhurst, I would highly recommend a visit.
