I thought I would be all clever and add in the history behind the Aztec print into my post, but in all honesty not even Google could really tell me why this design trend is specifically called Aztec.  All I know is that when I see it I know it, and that it can be traced back to the Aztec population that lived in middle Mexico in the 14th, 15th and 16th century.  Totally embarrassed by my ignorance to feel free to educate me!

So while I find it difficult to explain… geometric? pattern? diamonds and squares? It is a well placed addition to any rustic space, and the perfect way to bring in pattern or colour!  And it goes without saying… if it dates back to the 14th century and it’s still used today… timeless!
